THE KNICK KNACK IDEA

"Mr. Knick Knack" is a living form and forum of family entertainment created by Steve Rossi to share his best idea for the world with young children. And here it is:

a. THE WORLD ON THE INSIDE of each of us is literally . . . geographically . . . nautically . . . immeasurably . . . BIGGER than the world outside of us. It is simply an optical, delightful, incredible illusion that the outside world appears to be unimaginably bigger than the world inside us . . . and it is unimaginable - but only because it's not bigger in the least! All the big things that the world outside can boast - planets, oceans, trucks, elephants, hurricanes, mountains, buildings, dinosaurs - are laughably miniscule compared to the wonders reposed inside each of you. So, if the truly teeny world outside so boasts its colossal wonders before our eyes and our fears like it does, then our momentous question at Knick Knack becomes, "What bigger things have we got inside our hearts?!!"

b. If the human heart is so fearsomely vast in its bigness, then we live wary in our own skin, as we would in a strange and spooky castle, until we realize that THE HUMAN HEART IS LIKE A FAMILY, literally relating with itself as a family: talking, listening, cherishing and holding, in a real, personal, social rapport. That's the whole nature of that imposing vastness - nothing more, nothing less. Most important. And it is up to us to mindfully, daily conduct that talking, listening and holding, because our heart is us, and we are our heart. In fact, perhaps in some way the conduct of our heart as a family unto itself is our most basic human responsibility, because to do so is not only in our nature - it is our nature.

c. So what does it all mean? It means that the Opportunity of Opportunities for each of us comes when EVERY CHANCE AND CHALLENGE OF LIFE is decided first relationally within, by the heart, and met only then with the perfect storm of humble but bold action.

d. Then, SEAMLESSLY CRISSCROSSING one's way through life, perfectly steadied between these very unevenly-balanced inside and outside worlds, is itself the art of a truly well-balanced life and your very own, fearless, self-true adventure! Therefore, we can do this . . . and do this we must!
